FTP synchronization

Post by itehq »

This is my first post so If I post incorrectly I apologize in advance. I will also try to include as much detail as possible.
I am setting up a synchronization for a client using this software obviously...

BestSync 2011 Ver6.2.43 64bit
Synchronization Folder 1 (local 2003 64bit server) -> Folder 2 (FTP Buffalo NAS 4TB)
Moving 99.72GB of data :roll: Across a Wireless ISP. Needless to say it took 100+ hours to transfer. Had to start over aswell due to power failure at center during transfer, that always helps :evil:
Sending across the Internet, not a network transfer.

Steps I took:
1: Preview - Synchronize Timestamps
-let it scan, it always pauses at 65GB for about 3minutes
-press start when ready to synchronize time stamps
-close windows when done, takes a while...
2: Preview - Mirror Folder 1 => has double arrows Folder 2
-it scans, pauses at 65gb for a while
-when ready push blue start button, let the data transfer...
3: All data is transferred
4: NOW WHAT?
How do I ensure it only sends the new/modified data to FTP?
It seems to want to send all data again which is not going to happen?
I should run it as Preview Folder 1 -> Folder 2?
Do I just let the task or service run as Folder 1 -> Folder 2?
Do I have to syncronize timestamps everytime?

Questions?
When using the Multiple Thread Option what is that being based on, How many cores are on your system?
Does that help determine performance of using 8 or 16 threads?
I am getting FTP connection issues when transfering I get when doing 1 or 16 transfers, could this be due to the Internet connection or threads over Internet and not Network transfer?

Thank you for your support...

Because we have not got a Buffalo NAS, so can not debug on the system.
From our experence, this cause of this problem may be because the system time of the FTP server or the local PC is not correct.
Please check the sytem time of the NAS.

If the system time of the FTP server and the local PC are correct, BestSync should be able to detect the changed file, and sync only the changed files.

so I just press the start button or have the schedule run as it should and it will copy new and modified files to the ftp server... doesnt seem to be working correctly, even after verifying time clocks on local server and ftp NAS, and synchronize timestamps it still wants to move the data again.

Could you please export the task setting to a file, and send it to risefly(at)risefly.com?
