Syncing from FTP server to local disk - listing exceptions

I am using BestSync 2013 to sync from a number of FTP locations to a local hard drive, to form backups of a number of websites. This was working fine in previous versions (2011, 2012) but I now have a problem in version 2013.

I want to identify certain folders on an FTP server to exclude from the sync operation. Folder 1 is the FTP location and Folder 2 is the local drive. When I try to select the folders to exclude (Add-in folder 1) the file browser goes to the local drive to look for folders! I am unable to do anything to change this, yet it worked fine in previous versions.

Maybe my use is unusual, but the ability to do this was one of the reasons I selected BestSync in the first place.

Please advise how I can achieve this.
