Cannot sync with Microsoft Mail

Post by elioth »

I have upgraded to BestSync 2013 32-bit edition after discovering that BestSync 2012 64-bit edition is not compatible with Windows Mail; I was getting 'could not connect to MAPI' errors and apparently BestSync and Windows mail have to be the same bit edition (the latest version of Windows Mail is 32-bit).

However, now when I select Windows Mail when creating a new task, I get the error below, even though Windows Mail is installed. I'm running Windows Server 2008R2

After you installed Windows Mail, have you setup a mail account, and tested sending and receiving email?

Yes, I can send and receive fine from Windows Mail. I have rolled back to BestSync 2012 (32-bit) and the Windows Mail folder is set as: Windows Mail|\

I get the error 'Failed to connect to the MAPI'

Any ideas?

Please can someone advise what is the solution to resolving 'Failed to connect to the MAPI' error when using BestSync 2012 with the current version of Windows Mail (2011, Build 15.4.3555.0308)

I have tested synchronizing with Windows Mail in Windows VISTA. The first time when I browsed the Windows Mail Folder, the same error dialog box popped up. I ignored the error, and press the continue button.
Then I exit BestSync, and run it again by Administrator, BestSync synchronized Windows Mail without problem.
Later, even I start BestSync in normal privilege, it can still synchronize Windows Mail correctly.
Please try the above steps to see if the problem can be resolved.

Error 80040154 mean the Windows Mail component has not been registered correctly on your PC.
May be you need to repair Windows Mail to resolve the problem.

Hello, I still cannot get this to work. Note that I am using Windows Live Mail (Windows Mail is now deprecated and you can't appear to install this). I was assuming that BestSync would work with Windows Live Mail, but I guess it doesn't...

Thanks. Please can you add this as a feature request? In the meantime, I have installed Outlook and it's working fine.
