Upgrade questions

Post by tjblow »

I am on Bestsync version 9.0.3.3 and 9.0.4.6 and would like to upgrade to the current version of 9.0.6.2
1) Any license restrictions in doing this upgrade?
2) Is the upgrade disruptive? Do I need a maintenance window to apply it?
3) Will all my current tasks be saved?
4) What steps do I need to a rollback if new version causes problems?
5) Is there a way to backup the Bestsync files with task information, or a way to copy the files out to text format?

Thanks in advance...

Here are the answers of your questions:
1) Any license restrictions in doing this upgrade?
>No any limit on the same mayor version 9.X.XX.

2) Is the upgrade disruptive? Do I need a maintenance window to apply it?
>Just install the new download installer, no any other action is needed.

3) Will all my current tasks be saved?
>Yes.
4) What steps do I need to a rollback if new version causes problems?
>If you need to do a rollback to old version, please backup the old project settings before install the new version, because the format of the setting files may be changed.

5) Is there a way to backup the Bestsync files with task information, or a way to copy the files out to text format?
>Do you want to backup the setting files of BestSync?
The setting files of BestSync is already in the XML format, it is in the text format.

Thanks for the information. Yet it spawned a couple of other questions.
I think I found the xml file you were referring to: service.xfsf With all the task settings.
And you also spoke about backing up configuration files? Where would they be located and/or named?
