Excel 2007 saving process and BestSync...

Post by braulio »

Problem with excel files and Bestsync "Monitoring file change": I have a user's document xlsx with 24 Mb, and when he tries to save this document in a Bestsync monitorized folder, he get's an error from Excel 2007 about a sharing violation and are unable to save this document, even tring save as...

Excel 2007 creates files (ex. 7DD74000 without extension) during the saving process, and it seems Bestsync tries to sincronize this file and creates a sharing violation in Excel process.

Bestsync version: 5.4.14.

Please wait for some days for the solution of this issue.
The ccause of this problem may be the following scenario:
Excel saves a file;
System notifies the creating of the file;
BestSync copies the file.
Excel append contents to the file; --->sharing violation !!, because BestSync is copying the file.
A new release will add a registry key to prolong the waiting time before BestSync copying a file.

Will be a great feature to have a delay in seconds option in Bestsync interface in Monitoring files option...

Please download the new version 5.4.15 from the download page first, and install it.
Then download the following reg file and apply it to you system.
http://www.risefly.com/setting/MonitorWait.zip
The reg file set a heximal delay time in milisenconds. The range is from 3000 miliseconds to 600000 milisenconds.

After test this new version, the problem continues...

I have test in 2 different machines, and I have 2 different behavior's:

1. The task syncronize imediately and the problem remains
2. The task syncronize after several seconds the first time Bestsync start. Then If I change the file xlsx again, Bestsync syncronize immediately and excel reports sharing violation again.
If I stop Bestsync and start again the first time works and after that fail...

I have changed the new parameter in miliseconds for other values and no luke.

The problem may have been fixed in the new version 5.4.16.
Please download the new version from our website.
The new version modified the part of monitoring file change to ensure the delay before copying file.

After install version 5.4.16 and restart Pc, we have a Bestsync crash during xlsx file save (Please see attached print screen).

Excel file have 24 Mb and save process takes around 10 seconds.

We have configured delay Monitor reg to "15000".

We may have fixed the bug that is caused by the last modification.
Please download the new version again. Please note that the version number has not been changed, it is still ver 5.4.16. Please uninstall the last install first, then install the new download.
