This is insane. I've tried with the target directory an another external drive as well as on the second drive (ie partition) on my laptop: same result as described above:
A- either BS sees no changes while there are some (eg I've added one file in the source directory but BS did not see it)
B- or BS does not see any files/folders on the target side and copies everything.
Note: point A above is dangerous as it means that the backup is uncomplete
I am at a loss. Are the jobs settings wrong? what am I doing wrong?
More info:
I've tried with another job with just 6 files. I've copied them to the target folder (on a second partition on my laptop)
1/ the first time I preview it, BS does not see anything. good. If I preview again, same. good.
2/ I *run* BS. It does not do anything. good
3/ But after this first run, BS believes there are no target files at all: if I preview it BS shows 6 files to copy, and if I run BS it copies them
4/ if I keep running the job it alternates:
- copies no files
- copies all the files
- copies no files
- copies all the files
- copies no files
- copies all the files
This behavior is not present if I keep previewing. it stays where it is (either copy nothing, or copy everything).
Any help ??????????????
cannot see ANY existing target files -> copy everything
Re: cannot see ANY existing target files -> copy everything
Please try the new version 9.0.38 on our website to see if the problem is fixed.
The new version fixed a bug that may miss some changed files during synchronization.

Thanks for the sugestion.
Nope, the problem is still there.
Please, don't give up!
Could the problem lie on the type of files I want to sync? Here the problem always occurs with the same folder, a system folder (Thunderbird Profile). What do you think?

Re: cannot see ANY existing target files -> copy everything
Try the following to see if the problem can be resolved.
1. Delete "Z:\_Backup\Daniel\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\" by Windows Explorer.
2. Use BestSync synchronize the job from the scratch.
