Encryption/Decryption Setting

BestSync uses AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) 256Bit cryptographic algorithm to encrypt the files.

1. When the synchronous direction set in the Task Wizard: General page is From "Folder1" to "Folder2", the encryption options is displayed as following.

"No encryption or compress" —No encryption or compress will be performed.

The second option—Files copied from Folder1 is first decrypted then decompressed to folder2.

The third option-- Files copied from Folder1 is first compressed then encrypted to Folder2.

2. When the synchronous direction set in the "Task Wizard: General" page is From "Folder2" to "Folder1", the encryption options is displayed as following.

"No encryption or compress" —No encryption or compress will be performed.

The second option—Files copied from Folder2 is first compressed then encrypted to folder1.

The third option-- Files copied from Folder2 is first decrypted then decompressed to Folder1.

3. When the synchronous direction set in the "Task Wizard: General" page is Bi-direction sync between "Folder1" and "Folder2", the encryption options is displayed as following.

"No encryption or compress"

No encryption or compress will be performed.

The second option:

Files copied from Folder1 is first decrypted then decompressed to folder2.
Files copied from Folder2 is first compressed then encrypted to folder1.

The third option:

Files copied from Folder1 is first compressed then encrypted to Folder2.
Files copied from Folder2 is first decrypted then decompressed to Folder1.

"As ZIP File"

If this option is checked, the file will be encrypted by AES256 as an individual standard .zip file. This option is useful for synchronizing and encrypting the file to cloud storages such as Google Drive, then view it from smartphone.

"Encrypt & Compress backup file"

The backup file will be compressed and encrypted.

"Password Hint"

Hint sentence for remembering the password. When a password is required to input, the hint is shown.

"Confirm Password", "Remember Password"

Set the password for encryption and decryption. If "Remember Password" is checked, the password is remembered, and the password will not be required when synchronization is performed. For security reason, please don't remember the password.

"Compression Filter":

"Don't compress following file types:"

The designated file types are excluded from compress process. But they will still be encrypted.

Because the compressed file types such as "*.lzh;*.zip;*.mpg" need not to be compressed again. You can use to select the file types.
